The Art of Is: Yoga to Awaken to the Creative Self

How present are you really? Through yoga philosophy, mindfulness and physical “asana” practice, participants will explore meeting the creative self in a space of presence. This fun, interactive workshop is an inquiry into freedom, play, and beginner’s mind! We will explore awareness and intimacy with self and how this deepens connection to our incredible creative potential in each moment. Participants will journey through a specialized yoga practice to move in the art of “now”, and will explore how physical articulation and expression can awaken true creativity in each moment. This is an excellent workshop for those who teach improvisation. All levels welcome, no yoga experience required.

Presenter

  • Amy Haysom

Amy Haysom has been called a “magical creature” who playfully offers one of the most important invitations... to “meet yourself fully” on the mat. Through yoga, Amy teaches students the art of “now”, that everything is available to us in each moment when we “get out of our own way”. Amy has been teaching yoga for over 10 years. As well as teaching regularly in studios on Saltspring Island and Victoria,Amy spearheaded a Yoga in the Classroom initiative on Saltspring Island, teaches specialty programs and workshops, is an Artist in the Classroom for “Yoga for the Creative Self” and has started a number of wedding days with yoga too! She has taught at corporate retreats, School District professional development days on “how to bring mindfulness into the classroom”, and led a workshop titled “Embodying the Milennial Development goals” for the Canadian Commission for UNESCO’s AGM in 2008, to name a few. Amy’s workshops include music, movement balanced with stillness to invite students into self reflection, to “get comfortable in the uncomfortable”, feel safe to push their personal edges, to  ultimately deepen in their level of connection and awareness to all relationships and activities we do in our daily lives.
