How to Act a Song

Oral presentation regarding how the actor/singer  - makes the character come alive; engages the audience's emotions; and fulfills the character's needs

Participation is offered on how to effectively use the stage, gestures and movement to draw the audience's attention.

Discussion and participation on using fun and very valuable techniques with all ages of youth.

Note: I would like to bring a performer/assistant, if there is a music playback system.

 

 

To Bring

Loose fitting clothing and comfortable shoes if they would like to particpate in physical techniques for part of the workshop.

Instructor

Janis Dunning

Janis Dunning is the Co-Founder of the Canadian College of Performing Arts, now in its 20th year of operation in Victoria, BC. 

During her performing career Ms. Dunning garnered contracts for Broadway, London's West End and theatres across Canada. She was also the director and star of 2 award-winning television series for children for the CTV network, for 18 years.

Ms. Dunning has founded performing arts training centres for youth in Winnipeg, Charlottetown and Victoria.  Her students have fulfilled their careers at prestigious theatres in New York, London, Berlin, Tokyo, Toronto, Vancouver, Stratford, Los Angeles many more locations world wide. They have also starred in films and television.

Ms. Dunning was born in Haney, BC and is now semi-retired in Victoria.
